It's lovely to meet you!

My name is Sydney Freutel, and I am a mental health counselor in the state of Washington. I completed my Master of Arts in applied child and adolescent psychology at the University of Washington Seattle, and I have lived in Washington all of my life. I have experience working with children, adolescents, and adults with a wide range of abilities and backgrounds. Though I specialize in working with youth ages 4-23, I greatly enjoy working with adults as well. I use a trauma-informed, cognitive-behavioral approach while integrating DBT skills, solution-focused therapy, and Motivational Interviewing. Creative expression is a tool of empowerment for many, and I incorporate art therapy into treatment as needed per client preference. I am familiar with treating a range of diagnoses and concerns, with experience training in community mental health settings. If you are seeking to change your life for the better, contact me and we can schedule a consultation at a time that works best for you.

I am particularly oriented towards the treatment of issues involving attachment trauma, PTSD, ODD, anger management, issues affecting the LGBTQIA+ population, depression, bipolar I and II, and anxiety. I have made cultural responsiveness a priority when working with clients, so that clients of all racial and ethnic backgrounds will feel safe, respected, and heard. I continue to update my cultural competence by educating myself on the unique cultural backgrounds and values of my clients, as well as any current systemic obstacles that may be affecting mental health. I use a strength-based approach - throughout our work, you will gain a deeper understanding of how to use the strengths you’ve already got to successfully navigate any obstacles you are experiencing. We begin by assessing your needs and constructing a treatment plan with a specific goal; from here, we can decide upon the best path forward for you. I utilize trauma-informed care to meet you where you are at and assist you in processing difficult events, as you develop coping skills that will last you a lifetime. I seek to empower clients to become their own healers. My style is client centered - I believe that you are the expert on your own life, and I am dedicated to hearing and honoring your identity and story. Everyone is unique, and I possess the drive and passion to identify the most effective treatments for each client. Together, we will work as a team to reach your treatment goals using a plan specifically tailored to your needs.
